How We Stay Pest- (and Pesticide) Free

Pesticides on any crops are not necessarily great for anyone (besides maybe the plants, but even then, not really). They pollute the environment, pollute the soil for future plants, and get into our bodies when we inhale or ingest the final product. But bugs are always a problem for farmers, whether they’re growing cannabis or cantaloupes. So how do we combat them?

The answer seems too simple to be true: other bugs.

The most common predators (pests) of our plants are aphids. These little guys can decimate crops at an alarming rate. But thankfully, beneficial insects like ladybugs and Aphidius colemani love to eat them. They get dinner, and we get pest-free plants!

We periodically release boxes of these beneficial insects from our favorite providers at Tip Top Bio inside our greenhouses and out in our fields.

This saves our precious soil from being polluted with chemicals from typical pesticides, and in turn saves the water sources in the area from being polluted with runoff from our fields. It’s good for everyone and everything involved.
