What’s the Difference? CBG vs THCV
When out and about, we’re often asked if THCV is like CBG. We’re here to answer that question.
CBG is a cannabinoid, just like THC and CBD and THCV. This means it’s a plant compound with therapeutic benefits, often found in the cannabis plant, but it can also be more abundantly found in a plant called Helichrysum umbraculigerum. Each of these cannabinoids possesses different therapeutic effects on the human body, but there is some overlap.
So what are they?
Both CBG and THCV are known for their ability to provide therapeutic benefits without being psychotomimetic (able to alter the state of consciousness, similar to a psychotic drug).
CBG and THCV also don’t activate the CB1 receptors in the body that cause our nervous systems to react, making it less likely to give us anxiety.
Both cannabinoids possess the ability to provide users with anti-inflammatory properties, a lovely mood boost, and less chance of anxiety. But there are some key differences.
THCV is an energetic and focused cannabinoid, and will certainly keep you up and on-track. CBG helps to relax the body and mind, and can be great for bedtime routines.
THCV will also suppress your appetite, while CBG helps to stimulate it.
So if you’re looking for a relaxing, anxiety-free cannabinoid to give you the munchies, CBG is for you. If you’re looking for a focused, high-energy, no-snacking cannabinoid, THCV is the way to go.
